29 Days and Counting

Awww, I’m sorry, but our time is up!

I’m leaving SF my friends. It’s been swell, it’s been great (and sometimes not-so-great) but it’s time to take off for new-ish destinations. I’m moving back to Portland. And I have 29 days to do it.

As some of you know I’ve been doodling around with the idea of moving back for a while now so this isn’t anything new. I think sometimes I’ll miss the city itself, but I won’t miss Muni, I won’t miss little old women elbowing me in the back to get on the trains, and I won’t miss the garbage on the street.

However, I will miss YOU. You know who you are. The people I’ve met in my nearly 17 years in the San Francisco Bay area. I will miss seeing you at Philz, walking down the street or getting together for lunch because we suddenly realized we worked 4 blocks away from each other! Or even better, wfh cookie days. Wherever I go I will do me very best to introduce Cake Days.. cuz who can live without cake?

The area has changed me, allowed me to grow, forced me to grow up and taught me so much. I’ll be able to return back to my native country knowing that I’ve got quite a bit done in my tenure here.

I’m moving back to Portland because I love having seasons. I want a garden. I want chickens and I want to be able to put my horticulture training to good use before I forget it all. I’m an outdoors kinda guy but I’m feeling removed living here. Plus, I’m hoping for a really long hallway so I can make Emma run down it when we play fetch :)

Thanks to you for helping me along my path. In all sorts of ways. It’s been amazing and incredible and I’m more grateful than you know. From tech to gardens to knitting, I couldn’t have come this far without ya. But don’t you fret, I’ll be back to visit.

In closing let me leave you with these few bits of sage advice:
* Look up when you’re walking. Sidewalk weavers are obnoxious.
* Look down when you’re walking. It will help you avoid something “unpleasant”
* Learn to grow your own food, we’re gonna need those skills sooner than you think.
* Don’t trust Muni, and lastly
* It’s SF, not San Fran, bitches. Get it right!
