It's 7am on the 24th of December. Solstice has come and gone. It's pretty quiet out there save the rumbling of Cal-Train every 15 minutes or so. iTunes is playing something by Nina Simone. Coffee's waking me up. It's cold.. feeling Winter close in more and more every year in the bay.. Earlier too it seems.

Solstice was good. Very meditative and mind-clearing. Lit the candles.. said a prayer for the return of the Light and meditated for a bit. Same as last year.. quiet, solo, peaceful. The room smelled of bay and jasmine all night.

Have a roommate moving into my apartment end of January. Time for change, a welcome change actually. It's spurred me on to make some changes here. Been too long in a rut! So, I took some things to storage, rearranged how things fit and been cleaning up my act (so to speak). I have to say, it took me 3 years to really make this place mine.. and soon enough will be moving to SF, so go figure.

Nothing new on the job front. Oh I've had some interviews but we'll see how things go. Not holding my breath for 1 thing or the other. It is the holidays after all. Had a few people tell me that they'd contact me after the 'season' was over. Here's to a job I love and want to be at!

Off to work for a few hours. So glad I am pretty much done with my holiday. Now it's fun to sit back and watch everyone still scramble and fight for those last minute gift items. Ahhh commercialism (and capitalism) at it's finest.

Happy Xmas (and Solstice)

The Color Purple

Saw the play 'The Color Purple' last night. Wow what a show! The cast, the set, lighting.. all of it phenomenal! The music was outstanding. Top notch, performance, truely.

My neighbor had asked me if I wanted to go and I jumped at the chance. So we then asked our other 2 neighbors to go and we made an evening out of it.

I was blown away by the whole experience, the music was so compelling and spell binding. Most of the early dialogue was just musical numbers, only towards the end was there alot more spoken dialogue. The story was magic and carried you through the life of Celie, losing her sister, being married to 'Mister', and growing up through heartache and pain. And her relationship with Shug. Loved all of the characters. The actors did a beautiful job. I was amazed by the whole experience.

Seasons

It's really feeling like fall today. Windy, residual wet from the rain two days ago and yesterday.. Leaves have definitely turned red, veins coursing with anthocyanins, chlorophyll gone. It's a beautiful day for a feast.

My neighbors and I decided to have a second thanksgiving type dinner. I didnt get any leftovers so I thought this was a great idea. Turkey's in the oven, going all out. Chocolate cream pie for dessert too.

We couldnt have picked a better day for it. It's perfect weather and feeling for a day like we're having.

Cold day

The day went by so damn fast. I woke up fairly early but every time I turned around the time had changed.. almost exponentially.

Job search, recruiter call, interview in a couple days. Then time for the gym. Errands,
started cooking the Thanksgiving dessert. Fed the cats in my apartment building while everyone's gone.

Now 9pm. More iTunes and bedtime soon. Whew..
This day went fast.

tough night

Went to bed kinda early last night (well, early for a Saturday night). I was tired. Overwhelmed and exhausted is probably more accurate. I think the job search is really getting to me not to mention I don't have a full time job yet.

Slept pretty hard for a long time until early this morning when my cat decided to start running across the bed over and over. Finally got her to stop, but between that and some intense dreams I don't feel like I slept much at al

Having my coffee, sitting outside, foggy morning.

Interview

So I had an interview the other day. It didn't go so well. Actually, I think it went well from my perspective but the guy I interviewed with.. well thats another story.

He was 22 minutes late to the interview. Not good, showed up highly disorganized, right after introducing himself he says "Just sit there and chill for a bit while I get coffee'. Um ok.

He threw out a bunch of technical questions for me to answer and while I wasn't in 'top form' he would throw out scenarios that didn't make much sense. When I tried to question him about it, ask questions, get more information he would get frustrated. When I suggested ideas and possible troubleshooting techniques he would dismiss them. Apparently he wanted exact answers to what he had in his head and nothing else would do.

It's my understanding that when you're in the interview process, you let the employER go first and talk about whatever they want to talk about. Your job as the employEE is to listen and absorb knowledge about the company. Ten minutes into the interview he says 'You're not selling yourself, you haven't asked me any questions'.

um.. excuse me? I haven't had a chance.

So after 45 minutes of trying to spar with him over technical issues. Sure, I missed some things, but he wasn't really wanting to hear other ideas. Things were locked solid in his head. Period.

I then come to find out he manages all of his many clients and technicians not in a payroll system or even Quickbooks, but in a fucking spreadsheet. What?!?!? Are you kidding me?

Disorganized, disheveled and can't keep an appointment.. I don't think I'll be working for this company. Amazed he kept everything going in a business with his lack of organization.

moving on.

Today is like any other
